About
The plug-in works by analyzing the image and separating the shadows from the rest of the image and creating the mask. Then, it applies the brightness and contrast correction to shadow areas, leaving the rest of the image intact.

In action
Here's the image where the sky is properly exposed, but the subject and foreground are much too dark.

Let's start the Shadow Control plug-in. Click on the 'Mask' and move the 'Separation' slider until the foreground and the subject are marked black, and the background is white. Now, click on the 'Result' and move 'Gamma' and 'Contrast' sliders until they are sufficiently bright. It's again a matter of taste. Click on 'OK' button.
