DaVinci™

What is it?

DaVinci™ is a stand alone application designed to do the following:

• Download the images straight from the camera or card reader and sort out the images into the corresponding, fully customizable, folders.
• Windows explorer-like image organizer.
• Edit the photos. The current professional products being sold as a Photo Shop plug-ins are completely re-written, and included free for 30 days.
• Optionally, start automatically when camera or flash card is connected and download all the images, put them in appropriate folders and empty the camera. All without the single click.

Who is it for?

• The program is written for anyone with the digital camera. The image editing tools included range in complexity from simple to advanced. The image improvement guide is available to help user improve their photos.
• The people who need the powerful image editing software, but don't want to spend a lot of money to get it. DaVinci™ is free.

Browser:

• Full-featured, explorer like interface. Thumbnail creation is very fast and follows your actions.
• Double clicking will open the image for editing.

• When compatible camera is connected, it will appear in the directory list. Clicking on it will display all the images inside the camera.
  
  
  
  Also, when digital camera, or flash card is connected and selected, download button is enabled. You can either download all the images, or selected ones.
  
• Download history:
  When images are downloaded, the date when images were downloaded will appear in the 'Downloads' section. Clicking on it will display all files downloaded at that time, regardless of where they are. The entry can be re-named or deleted by right-clicking on it. To see the image location, switch to the list view.

 

Editor:

• Resizing (re-sampling): Following algorithms are available:
  nearest neighbor, bi-linear, bi-cubic, super sampling, Lanczos
  All are very fast.
• Cropping: Several different cropping modes:
  Normal, fixed size, fixed aspect ratio, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 8x12
• Rotation:
  90 and 180 degrees and arbitrary, either by typing in the number or using the horizon line.
• Flip:
  Horizontal and vertical
• Sharpening:
  Using un-sharp masking technique
• Red-eye removal:
  Automatic: Just click on the red-eye and it disappears.
  Manual: paint over the red-eye and DaVinci™ does the rest.
• Advanced tools:

  • Levels
  • Curves
  • Channel mixer
  • Hue / saturation
• Brightness adjustment
• Black and white and sepia conversion:
  Black and white, Sepia Antique, Sepia Spring and Sepia Vivid
• Image boost
  Applies the s-curve to the image for the haze-cutting.
• Shadow Control Pro™
  All-new. Only thing in common with the original is the name. It cuts through the shadows in the image.
• Highlight Control Pro™
  Also vastly improved. It tones down the image highlights.
• Photographic Filters™
  Creative tool for coloring the image, or part of the image. Full set of Cokin filters is included.
• White Balance™
  White balancing tool. Just click on what should be the neutral (gray) color on the image and see the difference.
• IR Film™
  Infra-red film emulation. All parameters of the conversion are fully customizable.
• Image improvement wizard
  Open the image you want to edit and open the wizard to guide the user in the image improvement process.
• EXIF info viewer
• Many more to come !

• Context-sensitive help. Just click on the '?' button and the help for the too you are in comes up.
• Online update:
  As the new features became available, DaVinci™ can be updated with the mouse-click. You can even choose how often it will checks for update by itself.
• Full featured installer, configuration wizard and un-installer.
• Last, but not least: no spy-ware, ad-ware, or anything else other than the original software.
  

System requirements:

• Windows XP
• 1GHz CPU or better.
• 100+Mb hard-disk space.
• Optional: WIA driver for the camera. It can be found on your camera manufacturer's web-site, or the disk that came with the camera. The driver enables your computer to 'see' the camera. If your camera acts as a removable drive, you don't need this driver.
